Ken spent his youth in Vernon Hills, Illinois and participated in a variety of team and individual sports since the age of 8. After graduating from Libertyville High School he enlisted into the U.S. Army Airborne division as a Parachute Rigger.
He received the Physical Fitness Badge of Excellence in basic training and subsequently was elected as company physical fitness coordinator for the 600th and 612th Quatermaster companies.
As a sargeant, Ken represented the Army in basketball and golf. After attending Master Fitness training school, he trained various groups of soldiers to compete in 60 mile adventure races, proficiency competitions, and Army 10 miler events.
Following his honorable discharge rom the service, Ken studied boxing and Wing Chun Kung Fu in Fayetteville, North Carolina under instructors who provide consultation to the F.B.I. and Special Forces.
Upon returning to Evanston, Illinois Ken earned two associate degrees in science and engineering from Oakton Community College and was president of the Engineering and Physics club. He is currently pursuing a bachelors of science in Industrial Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago (focus on human movement and ergonomics).
His background in personal training began at Xsport Fitness where he accumulated over 5000 personal training hours in four years. Ken left the corporate industry in August of 2007 and has been operating as an independent contractor in Chicago and the North West Suburbs. Ken holds certifications by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and National Exercise and Sports Training Association and Expert Rating.
Ken has experience working with post physical therapy patients, (hip & knee replacement, skeletal and muscular injuries, bypass surgery, cancer recovery) obesity, special populations, and athletes ( figure skating, football, basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, tennis, golf, triathlon, boxing, martial arts, skydiving, cheerleading, strong man, and track & field).
Ken currently competes in ironman triathlons and golden glove boxing.
